Make a date in your diary, Sunday 12 December and make an effort to help a cause that affects everyone. Breast cancer touches many lives and families but advances are being made in treatment and raised awareness can mean early diagnosis and a better chance of survival. That’s why The Walk Of Life has become such a big charitable and social event in the south of Tenerife. Last year 2,000 people took part and raised 8,400 euros.

This years event starts at 11 am from Salytien in Playa de Las Americas but most people will arrive from 10 am to enjoy the live music and to listen to comperes Katy Kennedy and Carlos. The Walk Of Life unites all communities and nationalities in Tenerife, and with pink clothing the fashion of the day, it’s a colourful spectacle to enjoy. The route has been changed a little this year and will end up at the Plaza del Pescadora at the old Los Cristianos beach, some 3.5 kms in total.

This years charities are AMATE and AECC who both do wonderful work and will make full use of every euro raised. There are sponsorship forms available, look out for the posters or call 600821100 for more information. There are more fun and games waiting at the finish line with cheer leaders and a blues and jazz singer. So if you live in Tenerife, or are on holiday come along and put your best foot forward. You can show your good intentions by joining the event online
